Novak Djokovic stormed into the third round of US Open 2021, with a convincing win over the Dutch, Tallon Greikspoor in the second round encounter. The world number one won in straight sets, and dropped just seven games in the entire match.

The Serbian is chasing a part of history at Flushing Meadows this year, as he aims to complete his Calendar Slam at US Open 2021. Speaking at the post match press conference, Djokovic was delighted with his level of tennis, and believes that he is heading in the right direction.

Great performance, better than the first round match. Obviously I am very pleased with the way I came out on court, and served very well. I found my rhythm on serve, and when it was important, I came up with the goods, said Djokovic.

The Big Three complement each other: Novak Djokovic

Halfway through his press conference, Novak Djokovic was asked a question, he is used to hearing. He was asked to choose the better player between Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer on a neutral surface. Novak Djokovic refused to answer the question directly, instead stated that the Big Three players complement each other well, which is good for the sport.

“It is difficult to say who is better (out of Nadal and Federer), because three of us are also different. We have different styles, we have different journeys to where we are today,” added the Serbian.

“We (Big Three) had tremendous success, some more on one particular surface, some on the other surface. We do complement each other, and the rivalry of Big Three is phenomenal for our sport. So more traction, more conversation there is around the three of us, the better it is for our sport,” he continued.

Next up, for Novak Djokovic is a clash against old-foe, Kei Nishikori in the third round at US Open 2021. The Japanese survived a five-set scare in the second round, as he defeated MacKenzie McDonald in the second round.
