Recently, after losing in the finals of 2021 US Open, the 20-time Grand Slam champion was bestowed with love and affection at the Arthur Ashe. In fact, Djokovic even acknowledged on being the “happiest man alive” as the capacity crowd in New York empathised upon his defeat to World No.2 Daniil Medvedev.

While the 34-year-old hasn’t been seen on the tour since losing at the US Open, he will return to action at the upcoming ATP Masters in Paris next month.

Meanwhile, tennis legend and former coach of Djokovic, Boris Becker reckoned that the top-ranked player will be embraced and loved at every tournament, going forward.

“The incredible ovation he received during the final was very good for him,” Becker told Eurosport. “That ovation should make it very clear that Novak is on the way to being loved in the final stretch of his career.”

“Respect for his incredible performances has always been there, but now people attach themselves with him emotionally,” the German further added.

The six-time Grand Slam champion also opined on how Djokovic might still be hurting at not achieving the Calendar Slam in New York.

“Novak is still digesting the tremendous opportunity he could not take advantage of in the last US Open. It became a major emotional problem for him, things did not go as expected.”

Before concluding, Becker also remained confident that his former charge will get back to winning ways, once he gets back to playing tournaments regularly.

“I hope he plays again soon. I think he will see everything more clearly again once he gets back into dynamics, plays tournaments and wins matches again,” the 53-year-old concluded.

Currently, Djokovic has already reached France and will soon begin his preparations for the Bercy Masters.
