Djokovic shed light on the glaring hypocrisy of some of the players who were ill-mouthing him in Australia and are now completely okay with him playing in Dubai.

Djokovic at the beginning of the year was deported out of Australia and wasn’t able to defend his Australian Open title in Melbourne. During the time the world No.1 received a lot of criticism not only from fans but also from his opponents.

Djokovic when asked about the behavior of the players around him at the Dubai Tennis Championship said, “Most of the players that I’ve seen have been positive and welcoming. It’s nice to see obviously. I can’t say that was the case in Australia. It was a little bit strange. But here it’s well so far.”

Djokovic received a lot of ridicule and badmouthing not only from the fans but also from some of his opponents. At the Australian Open Djokovic was being sidelined and was treated in a very different way by the authorities when compared to other players.

Some of his opponents even ridiculed the world No.1 for trying to play the tournament unvaccinated and not following the rules that were in place for everybody else. However, all of those people were nice to him in Dubai, which doesn’t have such strict rules as Australia.
