9th seed, Karolina Pliskova is one of the vest clay court players on the current tour and has been in amazing form all season. She reached the final of the Italian Open 2 weeks back where she lost to Iga Swiatek in straight sets.

In Paris too, she has been playing amazing tennis, beating Croat Donna Vekic in straight sets 7-5,6-4 at Court Suzanne Lenglen and will now face former runner-up, Sloane Stephens on Chatrier.

Stephens too has been in decent form lately. She reached the semi finals of the Emilia Romagna Open at Parma a week back where she defeated the likes of Sara Errani and Daria Kasatkina before losing to Wang Qiang. In the first round at Paris, she defeated Carla Suarez Navarro, who was making a comeback after battling cancer, in three sets 3-6,7-6(4),6-4.

The match promises to be full of action as both players are in amazing form and play the best on Clay. Pliskova may have an edge given her ranking and recent form, but Stephens is known for her giant killing abilities in Slams. Having said that, expect a very close match, with Pliskova marching into the third round.

Prediction: Pliskova to win in three sets.
