Multiple Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal asked Roger Federer if he would like to partner with him for the next year's Laver Cup.

Rafael Nadal is a legend of the game. The southpaw has accomplished almost everything possible in the field of tennis. Popularly known as the ‘King of Clay,’ Rafa’s love for the red clay court is a globally known fact. However, the superstar from Spain hasn’t been in the best of forms lately.

The Spaniard has been plagued by a number of injuries which has forced him to stay away from the tennis court for an extended period of time. He did put up an impressive performance in the French Open 2021 where his journey was halted by champion Novak Djokovic. However, after that, things haven’t turned out well for him.

After he was knocked out in only the second round at the Washington Open by Lloyd Harris, Nadal has kept himself away from the court as he is taking time to recover from the foot injury he sustained. The southpaw issued a video message prior to the start of the US Open to announce that he will miss the remainder of the 2021 season.

However, what comes as good news for Rafa fans across the globe, the ‘King of Clay’ has hinted that he will feature in the Laver Cup next year. In an Instagram story, Nadal asked Swiss tennis star Roger Federer to team up for the next year’s Laver Cup.

Nadal tagged Roger Federer and wrote, ‘doubles next year?’ Without taking much time, Federer replied to Rafa’s request and claimed that it would be amazing to team up with him. Sharing Nadal’s story, Roger wrote, “bringing back the old Fedal in London would be amazing.”

Federer also decided to withdraw from the 2021 season a while ago as he had to undergo knee surgeries. It will be interesting to see when Nadal and Federer, the two absolute legends of the game make a comeback on the court.
