World No. 3 and the 2nd seed at the upcoming Indian Wells Masters 2021, Stefanos Tsitsipas will definitely be one of the title contenders after considering what brilliant season he has had this season. The Greek reached his first Grand Slam final this season at the 2021 French Open and was 2 sets to love but a brilliant comeback by Novak Djokovic denied the 23-year old his first Grand Slam title.

Stefanos also won his first ATP Masters title, winning the 2021 Monte Carlo Masters and also won the 2021 Lyon Open along with runner-up appearances at the 2021 Acapulco Open and the 2021 Barcelona Open. He also reached the semi-finals of the 2021 Australian Open and has shown this season that he can prevail on both Clay and Hardcourts.

This will be his 3rd appearance at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden having made his debut in 2018 but faced 2nd round defeats both times in 2018 and 2019. However with improved form this season he seems certain to go further ahead and make a claim for the title. Being the 2nd seed, Tsitsipas receives a bye in the first round and will begin his campaign directly in the 2nd round.

Stefanos is likely to meet Spaniard Pedro Martinez in the 2nd round and then set-up a 3rd round clash with 25th seeded Italian, Fabio Fognini. In the Round of 16, Tsitsipas could meet Chilean Cristian Garin who has been seeded 13th in the draw and can make it to the 4th round quite easily given his run of fixtures in the first 3 rounds.

Hoping Stefanos makes it into the last-8, he will face a stern challenge from 7th seeded Felix Auger-Aliassime who has improved tremendously over the season and is coming fresh from a semi-final defeat at the 2021 US Open and will fancy his chances for his maiden ATP title.

In the semi-finals, World No. 4 Alexander Zverev will be the one blocking Tsitsipas on his way to the finals. The two youngsters have been meeting each other quite frequently in the business end of tournaments and after a controversial match in the semi-finals of the 2021 Cincinnati Masters, it will certainly be an epic clash.

Going by the seedings, it will be World No. 2 and the top-seeded Daniil Medvedev who will be the Greek’s opponent in the finals. Medvedev will be back in action on the ATP Tour for the first time since his victory at the 2021 US Open, although he did play at the 2021 Laver Cup, where he remained unbeaten in all his appearances.
