The Argentine had a bye in the first round given his seeding and started his US Open leg series in the 2nd round of the Canada Masters. Bautista last played in Canada in 2019 where he was seeded number 10 and made it to the quarter-finals, eventually losing to number 16 seed, Gael Monfils, 4-6, 6-3, 6-7.
