Serena Williams is a popular mother these days. Ever since the 23-time Grand Slam champion gave birth to her daughter Olympia Ohanian, she has been making regular headlines for various reasons.
Serena is one of the few mothers competing in contemporary sport. The American has also spoken about how she is focused on spending time with her family and daughter, despite her tennis commitments. In fact, both mother and daughter have often been captured indulging in various, absorbing activities.
Yesterday, daughter Olympia was clicked wearing a miniature version of her mother’s 2021 Australian Open outfit. Serena’s husband Alexis Ohanian shared shared the photo of their daughter.
Williams’s Australian Open outfit in February was worn as a tribute to the late great track star Florence Griffith Joyner. “I was inspired by Flo-Jo, who was a wonderful track athlete, amazing athlete when I was growing up,” Williams said after her first match of the Open, according to ESPN. “Watching her fashion, just always changing, her outfits were always amazing.”
Recently, Serena’s three-year-old daughter also had a meeting with the white tiger through a protected glass. The photo was also shared on social media. It was adorable to see Olympia completely awe-struck by the big cat.
During the Italian Open in May, Serena and her daughter were spotted enjoying Gelatos in the Eternal City- Rome, ahead of the French Open. The 39-year-old also shares pictures of her daughter regularly on the social media, which keeps her fans hooked.
Hunt for the 24th Slam continues
Unfortunately, the tennis star was knocked out in the fourth round of the ongoing French Open by Elena Rybakina. Serena will now be seen at the grass court season, later in the month and will also be eyeing her 24th Slam at the All England Club, where she is already a six time winner.
Although Serena is one of the top players on the WTA tour and continues to be ranked in the top-10, her aspirations of equaling the great Margaret Court’s record of 24 Slams seems to be evading her.
