When you question the performance of such a great player you should be very thorough with your observations and claims. But Ion Tiriac made the mistake of sharing his thoughts about Williams without having a foundation. Which led to widespread criticism of the statement given out by Tiriac.

Serena Willaims is known for replying to criticism in her own way, but this time it was her husband Alexis Ohanian Sr. who went ahead to criticize Tiriac’s comments over the former world No.1.

Ohanian replies to Tariac’s who said,”If Serena Williams had a little decency, she would retire”

Alexis Ohanian Sr. and Serena Williams have been married to each other since 2017. Even though her husband isn’t quite involved in what goes around on the court. He did manage to address some of the unnecessary criticism towards Williams.

Ion Tiriac the owner of Madrid Open in early 2020 made a preposterous statement about Serena Williams. He said, “Serena was a sensational player. If she had a little decency she would retire. At this age and the weight, she is now. She doesn’t move as easily as she used to 15 years ago.”

Replying to Tiriac’c utterly disgusting statement, Ohanian wrote on his Twitter, “2021 and no holding back when a racist/sexist clown with a platform comes for my family. Had to Google it turns out my 3-year-old has more Grand Slam victories. Safe to say no one gives a damn what lon Tiriac thinks.”

This wasn’t the first time Tiriac criticized a player without himself having any major accomplishments in tennis. He specifically focuses on criticizing the 23-time grand slam champion.

He also made a statement about Serena’s body in 2018, said, “I would like to see something else. I would like to see a player like Steffi Graf.”

To which Williams replied by saying, “Clearly there’s more to women’s tennis than me. There’s a lot more, but I’ll have words with him, believe me, I will have words with him. It’s an ignorant comment, and it’s a sexist comment, and maybe he is an ignorant man.”
