Mayar Sherif continues her surprise run in Romania as she moves into the finals of the competition. The 25-year old was up against home favourite Mihaela Buzarnescu who was the only player who managed to take Mayar into a tie-breaker as the Egyptian is yet to drop a set this week in Romania. She defeated Mihaela 7-6(1), 6-4 to move into her first finals of the WTA-250 tier.

Andrea Petkovic moves into the 2nd finals of the season as she defeats Aleksandra Krunic 6-4, 6-2 in a good resurgence of her season. This is a second consecutive final for the German on the WTA tour after she finished as the runner-up at the WTA Hamburg Open 2021 narrowly missing out on her 7th career title.

Sherif will take the court with a career Clay record of 105-36 and is 14-7 on the surface this season which includes her results on the lower tiers of WTA as well. Her season record is 21-15 across all surfaces. Petkovic comes into the clash with a superior record of 163-87 on Clay across her surface and is 13-8 for the season on Clay. She has a season record of 17-15 across all surfaces.

Looking at these numbers and recent form, Petkovic seems the one to claim the title but it won’t be easy for her as Sherif has been absolutely ruthless this week in Romania.

Match Prediction: Andrea Petkovic to win in three sets.
