The young 19-year-old, Jannik Sinner turned pro in 2018 and reached a career high ranking of 17 earlier this year in May. He has won 2 ATP Tour titles throughout his career, including one this year which he won at the Great Ocean Road Open. Sinner is seeded number 5 in Washington and will be hoping to make it back into the top 20 rankings.

In his first match, in the round of 32, Sinner was up against world number 69, Emil Ruusuvuori. Sinner dominated on the court and broke Ruusuvuori thrice to take the win, 6-2, 6-4.

Sebastian Korda reached his career high ranking of 45 earlier this month and won his maiden ATP title at the Emilia Romagna Open and did so by not dropping a set the entire tournament and also broke into the top 50 for the first time. At Washington, Korda is seeded number 12 and faced Canada’s Vasek Pospisil in the round of 32.

Korda served an astonishing 10 aces and converted 2 out of his 5 break points to take the win, 7-5, 6-4 and secure his spot in the Round of 16.
