Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed the second title of his season, as he defeated Cameron Norrie in straight sets in the finals of the Lyon Open 2021. The Greek was dominant throughout the week in Lyon, and dropped just one set all-week. The second seed survived a scare against the Italian, Lorenzo Musetti in the semifinals, whom he defeated in three sets, after being a set down.

Stefanos Tsitsipas defeated Cameron Norrie by a score-line of 6-3, 6-3 to round off a terrific week for him. The Greek served well, and put Norrie under tremendous pressure right from the onset. Tsistipas stated that he felt in good shape before coming into the tournament, and is happy with the way the week has panned out.

“I felt in good shape from the beginning of the tournament. I am proud of today’s match, I knew it would be a difficult one against Cameron who has been showing great tennis this week,” Tsitsipas said on court.

Stefanos Tsitsipas revealed that the final was by no means an easy affair for him, although the score line suggests otherwise. The second seed handled his nerves brilliantly and secured the title in Lyon.

Cameron Norrie has been winning against good players and showing what the left hand can do on clay. It was not an easy match today, I had to handle the nerves and I am proud of my performance and the way I stayed focussed towards my goal,” Tsitsipas added.

Stefanos Tsitsipas hopes to reach Paris soon, and prepare for the French Open 2021. The Greek was defeated by Novak Djokovic in a five set thriller in the semifinals of French Open last year. “It is about getting there as early possible, starting to practise and getting in shape for the big Parisian Grand Slam, which I adore and love and hopefully something good can come from it,” Tsitsipas said.
