Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas is a name to reckon with in the world of tennis. The World No. 4 has achieved a lot in his career. However, the second half of the 2021 season hasn’t really been the best for him. He came agonizingly close to clinching the 2021 French Open title, however, Djokovic snatched victory from jaws of defeat in the finals of the tournament.

Tsitsipas had given a couple of impressive performances before French Open, however, once the tournament was done and dusted, Tsitsipas wasn’t really able to perform as per expectations. He came into the Nitto ATP Finals after forgettable performances at Paris Masters and Vienna Open.

Although he didn’t have winning momentum on his side, temmis fans were still expecting a memorable performance fro, him at the ATP Finals. However, he was defeated in the very first encounter by Andrey Rublev in straight sets. Tsitsipas never looked comfortable throughout the contest.

After the game, Tsitsipas decided to withdraw from the rest of tournament as he suffered an injury. Obviously he was heartbroken as the right elbow injury forced him to step away from the ATP finals, but that was indeed the right call at that time.

Now, it has been revealed that the Greek tennis star might have to undergo surgery in order to recover. “Today Team Tsitsipas reveal that Stefanos will very likely have to undergo surgery. He was visited by the same doctor who’s treated Djokovic’s elbow,” said reporters on Sky Sport Italia’s coverage of the ATP Finals.
