Elina Svitolina vs Ekaterina Alexandrova : Preview
Elina Svitolina will be making her Grass debut of the season as she received a first-round bye due to her seeding. Svitolina will look to regain her 2019’s form on Grass which saw her make the semi-finals of the 2019 Wimbledon where she lost to eventual champion Simona Halep.

Ekaterina Alexandrova has made a good start to her Grass season as she raced past fellow Russian Anna Kalinskaya in the first round to move into the 2nd round at the Berlin Open. Alexandrova similar to Svitolina was knocked out of the 2021 French Open by Barbora Krejcikova in the 2nd round after which Alexandrova travelled to Berlin to kick start her Grass campaign.
Elina Svitolina vs Ekaterina Alexandrova : Head to Head
This will be the 4th career meeting and 3rd meeting of the year between the two. It will be their 1st match on Grass as they have previously met twice on Hardcourts and once on Clay. In all those meetings, Elina was the winner and she leads the head-to-head tie 3-0.
Elina Svitolina vs Ekaterina Alexandrova : Prediction
Elina comes in with a career Grass record of 15-18. She made her career Grass debut in 2010 and won her first match on the surface in 2014. However, she has made steady progress since 2017 on the surface maintaining at least 50% win rate on Grass. She will enter the match with a season record of 21-10.
Ekaterina also has 15 career wins on Grass, but has faced 11 defeats as compared to Elina’s 18. She comes into the match with a 16-12 season record and will be looking to grab her first win against Svitolina. Nevertheless, Svitolina will be the favourite for this tie given her overall better record over the season, but can be shocked if Ekaterina exploits Elina’s weaknesses as she plays her first match.
Prediction: Elina Svitolina to win in 3-sets.
