Ever since her 2020 French Open triumph, Iga Swiatek hasn’t look back. She has proved her mettle in almost every tournament she played and is now one of the most dangerous players on tour. This week, she hasn’t dropped a set and defeated the likes of Su-wei Hsieh in the first round and Vera Zvonareva in the second round.

As for her opponent, Irina-Camelia Begu, she reached a career-high WTA ranking of No.22 back in 2016 but since then, her form is a matter of concern of late and she has remained outside the top 50 for over two years now. She hasn’t competed on grass this season and grass isn’t her preferable surface either.

She lost in the opening round of French Open, her last tournament bowing out to Serena Williams. This week in Wimbledon, she upset 26th seed Petra Martic in a 3-set epic 7-5,6-7(7),6-3 to set up an encounter with Swiatek.

Begu will have to serve perfectly and create opportunities on the net if she intends to trouble Swiatek. Having said that, expect Swiatek to cruise into the Round of 16 comfortably.
