Emma Raducanu has become a superstar of the game. The young Brit took the world by storm when she ended up winning the 2021 US Open in an emphatic style. After all, winning a Grand Slam title without dropping a single set after battling through the qualifiers is not something we see every day.
Right from her first game to the final clash, Raducanu was absolutely magnificent at the US Open. Although things didn’t go as planned at Indian Wells, that’s something that can happen in a highly-competitive sport like tennis. Recently, it was revealed where the Brit has kept her US Open trophy and tennis fans are now showering more love on her.
‘It’s a gift’: Raducanu gives her US Open trophy to LTA
Raducanu, who had a forgettable outing at Indian Wells scripted a wonderful comeback at the Transylvania Open and after winning her second game in the marquee tournament, Raducanu was asked about the whereabouts of her US Open trophy to which she replied, “It’s not at home. If you want to see it, it’s at the NTC.”
Emma claimed that because LTA has done so much for her, she has donated her trophy to them as a thank you note. “I just thought the LTA have done so much for me and I just wanted them to have it as a sign and a big thank you for everything they’ve done for me,” she said.
Praising LTA even more, Raducanu added, “They have helped me so much through the young ages. They’ve played a huge role in my development so yeah it’s a little gift,” she said. The Brit was subjected to some criticism after her loss at Indian Wells, however, the way she has started off at the Transylvania Open, it would be fair to say that she has what it takes to succeed at the highest level.
