Halloween might have started as an American festivity, but in recent years, it has gone global. And now, even the tennis world is overtaken by this cultural phenomenon. Joining in on the Halloween spirit, Tennis Channel decided to interview a group of ATP players with some spooky questions. Granted, the questions were more funny than scary!
The cheeky questions were in the format of ‘would you rather..?‘.This involves a question with two possible options, and the person playing will have to pick one option, and justify their choice.
“I’d go probably go with Roger” says Andy Murray
Q: Would you rather live in a haunted mansion with Andre Agassi or get lost in a haunted maze with Andy Roddick?
Grigor Dimitrov: “Oh Andre all the way”
Interviewer: “Why is that?”
Grigor Dimitrov: “Knowing Andre a little bit, it’s a little easier to predict what is going to happen. So I’m not going to be on my toes the whole time. I don’t know Andy too well, he seems like a cool guy, but he’s more unpredictable”.
To the same question, Murray responded saying he’d prefer to live with Andre Agassi. “A maze I’d get out of there fairly quickly,” he said, about the Andy Roddick option.
Andy’s elder brother Jamie Murray, however, would like to be done with the Halloween business as soon as possible. The elder Murray’s opinion was “haunted maze because hopefully, I can get out of it,”.
Sebastian Korda made it very clear that the scary business is not for him. “I don’t like anything haunted really” the 21-year old added.
Q: Would you rather dress as John McEnroe or John Isner?
In response to this cosplaying question, Dimitrov chose the legendary John McEnroe, saying that it’d be easier since they both have curly hair. “I can kind of go along with that style” Dimitrov added.
Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jamie Murray too picked McEnroe. Auger-Aliassime said, “Well everything would fit so big if it’s John Isner and John McEnroe actually has pretty cool style”. Jamie responded along the same lines with “John McEnroe because his clothes might fit me”.
Q: Would you rather be haunted by Novak Djokovic or Roger Federer?
Andy Murray picked Roger Federer, saying that he has been haunted enough by the current world no. 1. “I’ve been haunted by Novak for a lot of my career, to be honest. So I’d probably go with Roger” was his hilarious response.
