World No. 20 Simona Halep is currently enjoying her offseason as she prepares side by side for the upcoming 2022 season after an injury-prone season in 2021. The Romanian started the season as the World No. 2 but with frequent injuries and long spells on the sidelines along with a title-less season, the 2-time Grand Slam champion dropped to the 20th place in the year-end rankings.

While the on-court year was not great for Halep, it was a merry time for the player off the court. She married her long time boyfriend Toni Iuruc in September, days after her 4th round exit from the 2021 US Open where she lost in straight-sets to Elina Svitolina failing to reach the quarter-finals of the 2nd slam she played this year, having missed the French Open and Wimbledon due to injuries.

While she continues to prepare for the next season, the Christmas spirit seems to have taken over the former World No. 1 who took to her Twitter handle to post her picture decorating her Christmas tree that left the fan in awe of her and the nearly decorated tree.

Simona started the season with back-to-back quarter-finals defeats in the Gippsland Trophy and then at the 2021 Australian Open. After a 3rd round defeat in Miami, she lost in the semi-finals of the Stuttgart Open and reached the 3rd round of the Madrid Open. She was forced to retire in the 2nd round of the Italian Open and then missed the remaining clay and entire grass season.

She returned to the Tour in Montreal but lost in her first match and then lost in the 2nd round in Cincinnati. After her exit from the US Open, she lost in the 3rd round in Indian Wells and then made it to the quarter-finals of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow. Back home at the inaugural Transylvania Open, she lost in the finals, her first finals appearance of the season before her season ended at the Linz Open where she gave a walkover prior to her semi-final match.
