Twitter went crazy as Rafael Nadal shared a video of him practicing with 'old friend' Andy Murray ahead of the Australian Open 2022.

Rafael Nadal had a poor 2021 by his lofty standards. The Spaniard was sidelined for four months this year due to a foot injury and had to subsequently end his season early way back in August. The King of Clay then made a comeback at the Mubadala World Tennis Championship at the back end of last year, following which he tested positive for Covid-19 and thus put his Australian Open participation in doubt.

Meanwhile, Nadal’s old friend and tennis legend, Andy Murray managed to reach the final of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship, despite his recent injury struggles.

In a viral video uploaded by Nadal on his social media, the Spanish legend is seen to be practicing with an old friend and a familiar rival in the form of Andy Murray. The two were practicing in Melbourne in the wake of the Australian Open 2022 to be held this month.

Nadal’s fans would be relieved to see the world number 6 return to practice after his recent Covid-19 positive result had thrown his participation in the big Grand Slam into serious doubt. However, earlier this week, the 34-year-old had confirmed his return to court, leading his fans to let out a sigh of relief.

Both Nadal and Murray are old-time rivals, having faced each other 24 times in the past, with the Spaniard having won the majority of ties with 17 wins. However, Scotsman Murray had defeated a rusty Nadal in their latest encounter at the semi-finals of the Mubadala World Tennis Championship 2021 held in Abu Dhabi.
