Emma Raducanu has been a rising name in the sport of tennis, as the Briton has had a terrific start to her professional career on the WTA Tour. The teenage sensation grabbed the headlines after her incredible run at Wimbledon 2021, where she managed to reach the fourth round.

Emma Raducanu made her WTA debut at the Nottingham Open 2021, where she earned a wildcard. Just a few weeks later, she earned a wildcard for competing in the main draw of Wimbledon 2021. She became the youngest Briton to reach the third round of the Championships, after Elena Baltacha did it in 2002.

Emma Raducanu rise in tennis has been moving upwards, as she made back-to-back fourth round appearances at Grandslams. The teenager also managed to reach the fourth round of US Open 2021, defeating some tough opponents on the way.

Emma Raducanu was born in Toronto, Canada to a Chinese mother and a Romanian father. Just when she was two-years-old, her family shifted to United Kingdom. She started playing tennis at the age of five at the Bromley Tennis Academy.

Emma Raducanu’s mother, Renee and father, Ian are both financial executives. Her father encouraged Raducanu to try different hobbies at an early age, as she played several sports alongside tennis.

However, she found her true passion in tennis at an early age, and started idolizing the likes of Chinese player, Li Na and Simona Halep. Emma Raducanu has a special place in her heart for both, Romania and Canada. Infact, she visits her paternal grandmother in Romania, atleast twice a year.

“My grandma, Mamiya, still lives in central Bucharest. I go back a couple times a year, stay with her, see her. It’s really nice. I love the food, to be honest. I mean, the food is unbelievable. And my grandma’s cooking is also something special. I do have ties to Bucharest,” Raducanu had said.

Emma Raducanu is certainly one of the future stars in women’s tennis. If she can improving her level of tennis in the coming years, she can be a contender to win multiple Grandslam titles.
