Stefanos Tsitsipas has been the poster boy for tennis in Greece. His rise on the Tour revived the sport in the country. He is a former World No. 3 and winner of the 2019 ATP Finals. The 24-year-old became the first person from Greece to reach a Grand Slam final when he finished runner-up at the 2021 French Open. The Greek topped it off by making it to the final at the 2023 Australian Open.
It has been an incredible journey so far for the Next Gen superstar. He is eager to make it count but the Grand Slam titles have continued to evade him going into the 2023 season. A player does not become a champion by himself. A lot of preparation and grit is required to achieve a lifelong dream. And a coach is a person who helps his ward to reach the summit. All you need to know about Stefanos Tsitsipas’ coaching team
Stefanos Tistipas is coached by his father Apostolos Tsitsipas. Stef comes from a family of tennis players with his mother Julia Apostoli a former Juniors World No. 1. Apostolos is a constant presence in the box and despite being controversial at times, has the full support of his son who has defended him on every occasion. Tsitsipas also had Mark Philippoussis as his coach before he decided to part ways ahead of the 2023 French Open.
Prior to this, Stefanos Tsitsipas also had Patrick Mouratoglou on his coaching team. Notably, Patrick founded the Mouratoglou Tennis Academy in 1996 near Paris and has since mentored and coached various world-class players. Mouratoglou is a former coach of Serena Williams, the winner of 23 Grand Slams. He is currently the coach of Danish teen sensation Holger Rune and former World No. 1 Simona Halep as well. Rarely has been an occasion when a tennis player has been guided by Mouratoglou and the player has failed to deliver.
