She suffered a shocking defeat in the fourth round of the French Open 2021 against Elena Rybakina.
Serena has suffered back-to-back setbacks this season. Despite being the top-seeded player at the ATP Parma 2021, the American national was knocked out in the second round by Kateřina Siniaková. She suffered a similar fate in the very first round of the Italian Open. Needless to say, Serena would be itching to make a grand comeback at the highest level.
