Women’s Singles Draw Analysis and Prediction

Top Half

Coco Gauff

Top-seeded Ash Barty gets a bye in the first round and is expected to meet American teenager Coco Gauff in the 2nd round. Gauff is yet to know her opponent as she begins against one of the 4 qualifiers. Heather Watson will take on Ajla Tomljanovic whereas 6th seeded Sofia Kenin awaits her qualifier opponent in round 1. Ajla will be the favourite against Watson but it will be tough for her to overcome Kenin.

4th seeded Paula Badosa will take on the veteran Victoria Azarenka with their winner set to meet the winner between Priscilla Hon and Petra Kvitova. Ekaterina Alexandrova will take on Canadian teen sensation Leylah Fernandez where the Canadian will be the favourite with their winner set to meet 5th seeded Iga Swiatek who will start against a qualifier.

First Semi-Final Prediction: Ash Barty vs Iga Swiatek

Bottom Half

Maria Sakkari

7th seeded Elena Rybakina will take on local girl Storm Sanders in which Rybakina will be the favourite and will play against one of the qualifiers who will be clashing in the 1st round. Shelby Rogers also starts against a qualifier and will take on the winner from the match between Tamara Zidansek and 3rd seeded Maria Sakkari.

2nd seeded Aryna Sabalenka gets a bye and will play the winner between the match of Kaja Juvan and Chloe Paquet. 8th seeded Elina Svitolina starts against Anastasia Gasanova and is the favourite to take on Misaki Doi who will start against Kristina Kucova in the first round.

Second Semi-Final Prediction: Aryna Sabalenka vs Elina Svitolina

Aryna Sabalenka

Barty and Swiatek could meet potentially for the 2nd time having last met in the 3rd round of the 2021 Madrid Open. Barty had won that tie and given her exceptional form, she will be the favourite but will certainly find great resistance from the defending champion Swiatek who also had some big wins in 2021.

Sabalenka and Svitolina could meet for the 3rd time in their careers. Both the players have won one match apiece and after a disappointing end to their 2021 season where they lost in the final stages failing to win a title.

Final Prediction: Ash Barty vs Aryna Sabalenka

WTA Adelaide International Finals:

Ashleigh Barty

The top-2 ranked players in the world are slowly making the habit of meeting in the finals having played 2 finals in 2021. From their previous 8 meetings, 4 have gone the Australian’s way while 4 have gone the Belarusian’s way. Given Barty’s record in the finals, she might just edge this one over Aryna and start the 2022 season with a title in her bag.
