The fifth seed is coming into this tournament after beating Timea Babos in the opening round. She also took out Serena Williams in Rome last week on her way to the third round. She is also a former French Open semifinalist in 2020 and came into the tournament with an 8-8 record in 2021, which included just one quarterfinal appearance at the Yarra Valley Classic.

The 24-year-old Frenchwoman has struggled to make the main draws of the WTA tournaments this year. Her second main draw win for 2021 came yesterday after beating Kristyna Pliskova 6-3, 7-5. Dodin has been playing mostly in the lower circuit, and has also had to play qualifiers in Madrid and Istanbul. Out of seven matches on clay this season, she has only won two.

Dodin hasn’t got the big tournament exposure so far, owing to which she can fall short of experience. However, after beating Pliskova in the opening round, she might be coming in with some confidence to take on Podoroska. That said, the Argentine will have too much power and class to progress ahead.

Match Prediction: Nadia Podoroska should win in two sets.
