Alexander Zverev vs Yen-Hsun-Lu : Preview
The 25-year-old German will be looking to put behind him a disappointing Wimbledon, in which he lost to Felix Auger Aliassime in the Round of 16 in a thrilling 5 setter which finished 4-6, 6-7, 6-3, 6-3, 4-6. He also lost the Round of 16 clash in the Halle Open, a tournament in which he was seeded number 3.
Lu’s best ever performance in any Grand Slam came back in 2010 when he reached the Wimbledon quarter-finals and he will be looking to rekindle that form. At 37 years old, however, that form seems to be laying in a parallel universe.
Alexander Zverev vs Yen-Hsun-Lu : Head To Head
The pair have faced off twice and the Head to Head record stands at 1-1, with the meetings coming quite a while back, in 2016 and 2017 in the Canadian and Miami Opens respectively.
Alexander Zverev vs Yen-Hsun-Lu : Prediction
Zverev was in a confident mood pre-tournament remarking that he sees himself as one of the favourites to claim the Gold medal in his first ever appearance at the Games. He also added confidently “I’m going there to compete for a medal for Germany.” 37-year-old Lu, a famous name on the Challenger circuit will be hoping to provide some resistance but that looks far too unimaginable
Prediction: Zverev to win in straight sets
