This victory boosts them over defending champions Liverpool and into a top four position. Strikers Olivier Giroud and Timo Werner got on the scoresheet for the home team.

Pulisic hasn’t featured regularly for Chelsea since Tuchel’s appointment

Thomas Tuchel has confirmed that he has big plans for US Mens’s Soccer team star Christian Pulisic in the future. Pulisic has managed to play just 84 minutes in the total available 450 minutes under Thomas Tuchel.

Christian Pulisic has failed to make any impact this season after being kept out most of time due to injury concerns. He played a big part under Frank Lampard in the 2019/20 season and helped Chelsea reach UEFA champions league qualification.

Now with Thomas Tuchel in he has a similar face as Tuchel coached him at Borussia Dortmund earlier. With a change in formation, Christian Pulisic won’t be able to play as a direct winger but will have to play in a wide left wing back role.

Well today the first change was already made in the first half from injury and Christian was a tight decision on whether he starts again after the Cup game, or if he comes from the bench and another 11 starts,” Tuchel said after Chelsea beat Newcastle United 2-0 on Monday.

“Unfortunately we only have three changes which makes it very, very difficult to give time to the players to play what they deserve and to have an impact. It makes it difficult as the third change, you don’t want to use that too early.

“Christian absolutely deserved to start, he deserved to come in, so I hope he keeps on going and I’m absolutely sure he will be an important influence for us and make an important impact for us in the future.”
