Thomas Tuchel has once again stated that he needs more hunger from his side if they want to make a difference.
Chelsea drew 1-1 against Southampton FC at the St. Mary’s stadium to put an end to a five match winning streak across all competitions.
Thomas Tuchel is unhappy with Chelsea performance against Southampton
Thomas Tuchel was visibly disappointed after the Chelsea performance and believes that his players lacked that decisive touch to finish off the game. Chelsea weren’t clinical enough and the players didn’t take decisions quickly.
N’golo Kante returned to the squad and Tuchel believes that his teammates didn’t support him well enough. Kante put in a great shift throughout the match and contributed greatly to the defensive department. It’s what the midfielder does best and can be utilised.
Thomas Tuchel believes that N’golo Kante winning the ball back can be used to start counter attacks and that wasn’t done effectively against Southampton. Kante’s attacking potential is immense and his pace enables him to carry the ball further up the pitch.
I have known N’Golo Kante for years and now I am a lucky coach who has him as a player,” Tuchel told reporters at St Mary’s Stadium. “He steals every ball that is around 10 metres near him. “Even then, we need to use these ball wins from N’Golo and use them better to attack the space behind the last line better. We need to use our speed better to create more chances. There are a lot of possibilities in the last matches.
“We need to understand and it is a process that we may need the last few links to gain the confidence to create and score more. Because it is also not enough to score from just half chances.”
