In probably the biggest game for Chelsea this season, they will be facing Spanish club Atletico Madrid in the round of sixteen in the UEFA Champions League. Diego Simeoneโ€™s men are currently on the top of the La Liga table and are one of the favourites to win the title.

Can Chelsea turn the tide on Atletico Madrid?

However Chelsea definitely have the quality to cause a major upset. They are yet to lose a match under new boss Thomas Tuchel and look like they are settling in well with his tactical changes.
But Thomas Tuchel insists that winning the UEFA Champions League is not the primary focus of the club at the moment. Thomas Tuchel reached the final in the champions league last season with Paris Saint Germain.

Atletico Madrid are the clear favourites in the tie with Chelsea missing out on key defender Thiago Silva due to a muscle injury. Thiago Silva did train with the first time before the match against Southampton but wonโ€™t take part in the tie.
However Atletico Madrid too have their problems with having to give up hole advantage due to Covid 19 regulations. They will have to play in Bucharest instead of the Wanda Metropolitano.

That has never been different and hopefully will never change because it’s exactly what I expect from my players and my teams: that when we wear a Chelsea shirt, we play a Chelsea game and that means we play to win and give 100 per cent of effort and intensity.
