To avoid Olympics clash Athletics world championship moved to July 2022

Due to corona virus Tokyo Olympics have been delayed and to avoid clash between World Athletics championship and Tokyo Olympic it have been moved back 11 months to July 2022.

World Athletics said in a statement “The new schedule will prevent a direct conflict between any of these major events and, with careful programming, will ensure athletes can compete in up to three world class competition.”

World Athletics which is usually held in every two years would now take place from July 15-24 in 2022 in Eugene, Oregon. The original dates of August were clashing with Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics which were postpone last month by a year from the original schedule of July-August 2020.

The new dates were chosen to avoid the clashing with 2020 Commonwealth Games in England. World Athletics also said that it would allow athletes to compete in all 3 events, where eligible.

The world championships previously held on Doha last year and the 2023 edition will take place on Budapest.
