It will be a tussle between two American nations for the gold medal in women’s volleyball at the Tokyo Olympics 2020, as Brazil will lock horns with USA in the final. Both teams have played some flawless volleyball over the course of two weeks in Tokyo, and both deserve to stand on the top of the podium.
Brazil vs USA Gold medal match: Preview
Brazil is the only team who is yet to taste a defeat. They have shown every other team why they are two-time Olympic champions. After outclassing Russian Olympic Committee 3-1 in the quarterfinal, they were up against Republic of Korea in the semis. A match as big as an Olympic semifinal can be nerve-wracking even for the best in the business. However, Brazil showed no such anxiousness as they cruised past a hapless Korea in straight sets 25-16, 25-16, 25-16.
On the other hand, USA has been as dominant as Brazil, if not more. They lost only once in the group stage, but since then haven’t looked back. USA first outclassed Dominican Republic 3-0 in the quarterfinal, and then annihilated Serbia with the same margin (25-19, 25-15, 25-23) to book a place for the gold medal match. USA has been a three-time Olympic silver medalist, but have never laid hands on gold, something they would like to do this time around.

Brazil vs USA Gold medal match: Prediction
Brazil were Olympic champions in 2008 and 2012, the same time where USA had to settle with silver, which means Brazil have already scored two wins over their American counterparts in two Olympic finals! USA will be out there seeking revenge and this infamous record will be in the back of their minds, but they may fall short for the third time. So the final prediction is Brazil claiming their third Olympic gold in women’s volleyball, defeating USA with the scoreline reading 3-2.
