Nick Kyrgios is one of the most controversial personalities on the tennis court. Off the court, he never shies away from an opportunity to voice his opinion. Recently, Toni Nadal, uncle and former coach of Rafael Nadal, has stated that Nick Kyrgios will compete at Mallorca Championships to be held in June.
The tournament will be played on grass courts, between June 20-26, 2021 and is part of the ATP 250 category. Toni Nadal heaped praise on Nick Kyrgios, while announcing his participation. The 60-year old believes that the Australian is a star on the circuit, and is one of the most followed athletes.
“Nick is a star on the ATP Tour. A showman. After the ‘Big 3’, he is one of the greatest tennis stars in the world, being the most followed player by the younger generations,” said Toni Nadal.

Nick Kyrgios will join the likes of Fernando Verdasco and Feliciano Lopez in Mallorca in June. Toni Nadal stated the the Australian brings a lot of entertainment on court, and it is very good for the tournament to have him compete.
“Nick Kyrgios is a great player who, in addition, gives a lot of show on the court,” Toni Nadal continued. “So Nick’s commitment to play in the Mallorca Championships is very important news for us. I hope that his presence in the tournament will bring a lot of people to Santa Ponca,” said Nadal.
The Australian last played a competitive match at the Australian Open 2021, where he lost in the third round to Dominic Thiem in a five set thriller. His ranking has dropped to number 56, as he has missed several tournaments off-late.
