Tony Cascarino tears into Frank Lampard’s tactics at Chelsea

Tony Cascarino has heavily criticised Frank Lampard and isn't happy with all the changes he has made to the side.

Frank Lampard was brought in by Chelsea at the start of the 2019 season as a replacement to the outgoing Italian coach Maurizio Sarri who went to on to Juventus.

After coaching just Derby County in the premiership, it was always a risky decision to get a new manager. However the club backed Lampard and appointed him.

Former Chelsea FC player Tony Cascarino believes that although Frank Lampard was a winner and a fighter as a pitch, he’s not the same as a manager and think Chelsea won’t prosper under him.

It’s true that Frank Lampard’s tactics aren’t exactly perfect and have come under the radar of pundits with his line ups being questioned and his inability to read the game and make the substitutions.

A few players have been used in wrong positions and it has affected the club. Even though Chelsea won against Luton Town courtesy of a Tammy Abraham hat-trick, Frank Lampard isn’t very safe right now.

A manager of a group of players, a squad of players that he has to get the best out of.If all you’ve got is changes, then that’s not great management. Great management is finding formations and personnel to get results in a particular game.

The goalkeeper should have been changed… that was probably the right decision as Kepa was playing really poorly.

The whole back four has changed – numerous centre-halves have played at Chelsea. There’s been changes in midfield. There’s been changes up front.
