The contest started on a fiery note as both the pairs were relentless in their pursuit. Ong and Teo took a narrow lead initially but despite trailing for most of the match the Indian duo produced a commendable comeback. Playing some calm and calculated badminton, the Indian pair took the first game, 21-18.

The Malaysians started the second bout like they did the first game. They took the lead once again. The Indians however mounted another incredible comeback as they fought tooth and nail in the exciting second game. None of the pairs were ready to spare a chance. However Shetty and Rankireddy edged out winning the match in a straight-game victory, 24-22.
