The league phase of Caribbean Premier League 2020 is done and dusted. The first semi-final of CPL 2020 will see Trinbago Knight Riders taking on Jamaica Tallawahs at Brian Lara Stadium on Tuesday.
Trinbago Knight Riders Preview:
Trinbago Knight Riders have been a dominant force right from the start of the tournament. Kieron Pollard and boys have not lost a single match thus far in the tournament. With 20 points to their name, they have topped the points table followed by Guyana Amazon Warriors and St. Lucia Zouks.
TKR have played 10 matches this season and have won all of them. One can imagine how ruthless they have been in the tournament. They will be up against Jamaica Tallawahs, who have won just 3 matches in the tournament so far.
Looking at TKR’s performances this year, they deserve to reach the final of CPL2020.
Players to watch out for:
- Lendl Simmons:
A mainstay in the team, Lendl Simmons should be the guy to watch out for. The opener has exhibited destructive performances in the tournament. He has scored 218 runs in 9 matches played this season at an average of 24.22.
- 2. Darren Bravo
His strike rate is a concern, but Darren Bravo has been consistent for the team this season. With 239 runs in 10 matches at an average of 47.80, Bravo would look to end the tournament on a high.
- 3. Dwayne Bravo
Dwayne Bravo has proved to be one of the biggest assets for the side. The West Indian has picked 9 wickets in the tournament with an economy of under 8. Bravo’s spell in the semi-final is expected to prove match-defining for TKR.
Last time when Jamaica played against Knight Riders, Andre Russell scored a fantastic half-century off just 23 balls. Though, he couldn’t help his side win that game. Ahead of the semi-final, Russell holds the key for Tallahwahs if they fancy any chances against the top side.
Jamaica Tallahwahs hasn’t found a lot of success in the tournament, with just 3 wins in 10 matches. Moreover, they haven’t won a single game in their last four fixtures. Nevertheless, they are in the semi-finals and franchise would hope for delivering a better show on Tuesday.
Players to watch out for:
- Glen Phillips
Glen Phillips has scored the bulk of runs for Jamaica this season. He has been in solid form and the team would expect him to shine in the do-or-die game. Phillips is the highest run-scorer in the tournament with 314 runs in 10 matches.
- 2. Andre Russell:
Undeniably, all eyes will be on Andre Russell on Tuesday. Will we get to see a destructive innings from the rockstar? One thing is for sure, if he gets going, things might turn out bleak for Trinbago Knight Riders then. Russell has 220 runs in the tournament in 8 matches at an average of 55.
- 3. Mujeeb Ur Rahman
The Afghanistan spinner is the highest wicket-taker in the tournament. He has claimed 15 wickets in 10 matches this tournament. The franchise would expect him to exhibit another world-class performance from him.
TRN VS JT: Match Prediction
Looking at the recent performances of both the teams, Trinbago Knight Riders are obviously a much better team. However, with Jamaica possessing match-winners in the side, you can expect them to do an upset on Tuesday. Nevertheless, a cracker of a contest is likely to be on the cards.
