The former Welterweight champion, Tyron Woodley didn’t hold back his comments on the current middleweight champion, Israel Adesanya. Tyron finds the timing of Israel moving up to 205 lbs immediately after Jon Jones left the division a little perplexing.

Last summer a possible fight between, the Nigerian, Israel Adesanya, and lightweight champ Jon Jones couldn’t surface to reality because Israel turned them down. Adesanya responded by stating that he wanted to clear the middleweight division before he cut down to the lightweight. After being rejected for a fight, Jon Jones revealed that he would be the challenging heavyweight champion, Stipe Miocic for that title.

Very soon later, Dana White stated that ‘The Stylebender’ will be moving up to 205 lbs and challenge light Heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz at UFC 259. Tyron Woodley finds this bewildering that Adesanya would make this move.

“I thought he had some business to do in the middleweight division and he was going to wait, and the second Jon Jones moved up to heavyweight, he moved up to 205,” Woodley said in a recent interview with Helen Yee.

“I couldn’t even think past the fact that he completely said he was not going to go up to 205 and face Jon Jones. If you’re the best – if somebody asked me to go up and fight (Michael) Bisping, I’m doing it. If you want to say you’re the best, now you’re going to go up to fight Jan? You wouldn’t do it to fight Jon?” Tyron Woodley questioned.

Tyron Woodley has his money on Jan Blachowicz ahead of UFC 259

Jan Blachowicz

Israel Adesanya is undefeated in the promotion with a record of 20-0-0. The fighter last won against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 last September. His soon to be rival, Jan has a record of 27-8-0 coming off a win against Dominick Reyes via TKO in the second round.

The former Welterweight Kingpin believes Israel Adesanya shouldn’t “talk the talk” if he wouldn’t agree to fight the greatest. But Tyron even after thinking Israel has an unfair match, believes that Jan Blachowicz could get the better out of the undefeated champion.

Tyron later said, “I think he should do whatever he wants to do, but don’t go around talking crap about Jon, and to Jon, and now Jon said, ‘All right, let’s go,’ and now you’re like, ‘No, I’ll get you in two years,’”  Tyron played Jan’s attorney in the interview and stated, “Everybody wants to be double-belted after Conor (McGregor) did, and I get it. But Jan ain’t someone you can play with. That dude got (expletive) power, and I think it’s something about the underdog that everybody’s looking past.”
