UEFA Champions League: Liverpool vs Porto player ratings as Reds ease past the Portuguese with a 2-0 win

Here are the player ratings for the UEFA Champions League fixture between Liverpool and Porto

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool got an easy 2-0 win over Porto in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday night. Mohammad Salah and Thiago scored the goals for the home side. Porto came close to scoring from Otavio but didn’t take their chances well. Sadio Mane and Takumi Minamino had goals ruled out due to offside.

Here are the player ratings for the encounter:-


Allison (7/10)- The Brazilian international will be happy with the clean sheet tonight. He produced some fine stops especially to deny Otavio and company.

Nathaniel Williams (6.5/10)- Williams produced a strong performance tonight on the right hand side for Liverpool. He made a crunching tackle on Vitinha in the latter stage to leave the man injured.

Ibrahim Konate (6.5/10)-A great learning experience for the young center back who is slowly getting better. He was dominant Today and didn’t make mistakes.

Joel Matip (6.5/10)- The Liverpool defender was the leader at the back tonight in the absence of Virgil Van Dijk. He was strong in aeriel duels and didn’t give the opposition time on the ball.

Kostas Tsimiskias (6/10)- The left back for Liverpool was good in stages but faltered in defence sometimes. He left spaces in behind which were exploited on occasions.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain (6.5/10)- Oxlade-Chamberlain was given a rare opportunity to start from the starting tonight. He got lucky after his poor free kick landed right for Thiago who was able to slam it home.

Morton (6.5/10)- The youngster was played in the middle of the park by Jurgen Klopp. He showed good composure at times to wriggle out of the tight spaces.

Thiago (8/10)- A great performance from the Spanish player tonight who was providing precise and accurate passes. He put the cherry on top with the sweetest of goals to score Liverpool’s first of the night.

Sadio Mane (7/10)- The Senegalese international had a good game and had a goal ruled offside in the first half. He curled the ball past Costa but VAR overturned the decision.

Mohammad Salah (8/10)- The Egyptian king continued his unreal goalscoring form with yet another addition. This time a simple tap in goal in the near post after the return pass from Jordan Henderson.

Takumi Minamino (6.5/10)- Takumi Minamino as well just like his teammate had a goal ruled out due to offside. He managed to poke the ball past the goalkeeper but unfortunately the flag went up against him.


Jordan Henderson (7/10)- A positive response from the leader tonight. He managed to get the important assist for Mohammad Salah’s goal.

Andy Robertson (6/10)- The left back was brought on to replace Tsimiskias who was struggling. He provided a good chance to Sadio Mane who was unable to convert.

Divock Origi (6/10)- The striker came late on in the match. He went close to scoring after coming on but was fouled outside the box.

Diogo Costa(6.5/10)- The goalkeeper was called into action few times and each time stood up to his task. He was excellent with his ball distribution, though e made a couple of serious mispasses.

Chancel Mbemba(7/10)- The central defender was solid in the 4 man defence line up. He made some very important blocks and interceptions and was very effective tracking back and stopping shots.

Pepe(5/10)- The 38 year old Portuguese international’s night was very short lived, though he started the match in a decent way. He was substituted by Fabio Cardoso at the 24th minute due to a stretch injury.

Zaidu Sanusi(6.5/10)- The left back was fairly defensively solid on the left flank. He made couple of decent blocks and a few good passes to front helping in the attack.

Joao Mario(6/10)- The right back was pretty good going forward on the right flank with his bursting pace helping him to go past Liverpool players. He also made some important interceptions and quite a few decent passes.

Sérgio Oliveira(5.5/10)- The midfielder was decent in holding onto the ball and giving some fine passes onto the final third. His impact on the game was fairly decent.

Mateus Uribe(6.5/10)- The Colombian International had a consistent impact on the game carrying the ball and giving some excellent passes. He also made some darting runs into the box and made some important interceptions.

Luis Díaz(7/10)- The left winger was by far the most dangerous Porto player going forward carrying the ball with his excellent pace and control. He was fantastic running in behind the defenders. He gave some decent crosses and managed a couple of shots.

Otávio(6/10)- The attacking midfielder was fairly decent with his runs and passes. He carried the ball well into Liverpool’s half. He also managed a couple of shots with were off the target.

Mehdi Taremi(5.5/10)- The Iranian striker got a couple of chances but could not capitalize on his chances. Although he made some important runs into the box and was able to shoot a couple of off the target shots.

Evanilson(5.5/10)- The Brazilian forward had a fairly decent game. He was able to carry the ball into the Liverpool half and to the box effectively. He also made some important passes.


Fabio Cardoso(5/10)- The central defender came into the pitch in the 24th minute for Pepe. He had a fairly mediocre game and did not have that much of an impact except for couple of off the target shots.

Vitinha(3/10)- The midfielder replaced Sérgio Oliveira in the 64th minute. He was fairly silent during the game and did not have any impact on the game whatsoever.

Francisco Conceição(4/10)- The 18 year old forward came on to replace Mehdi Taremi in the 64th minute. He had a pretty ineffective game. He made a few passes but made more mispasses.
