The UFC has taken 2021 by storm, and seemed to have ripped the rear view mirror off. Producing blockbuster fight cards almost weekly, we finally are approaching the mega UFC 259 card, where Israel Adesanya faces off with Jan Blachowicz for the light heavyweight title. Saturday, March 6th Jan will be attempting to defend his title for the very first time. Whereas, Adesanya will be competing for a chance at double gold.

As we begin to break down this clash of champions, It’s nearly impossible to ignore the massive weight disadvantage The Last Stylebender is encountering. His coaches have stated they have no intentions of being heavier, or more powerful than Jan. This alone should raise many questions for Stylebender fans. Another questionable factor to consider, is the smaller cage at the UFC Apex center. Both of which could possibly be disadvantages for Israel, taking into consideration his “keep you at a distance” fight style. Several small things seem to be leaning in the Polak’s favor from the jump, but is it enough?

“I don’t throw and hope, I aim and fire” – Israel Adesanya

Blachowicz is stepping into the octagon with one of the most surgical strikers mixed martial arts has ever witnessed. However, not a single fan doubts that the polish power is there. But will he be able to withstand the sniper-like accuracy and nimbleness Israel possesses on the feet? With seemingly both fighters being masterful in their own aspects of striking, we can only hope for an all out war come March 6th.

Both fighters came off an incredible 2020, rattling off two wins a piece in their respected divisions. With a potential superfight on the line for Adesanya, and it being Jan’s first title defense, we can’t begin to describe the importance of this light heavyweight throw down. In conclusion both fighters have pushed all their chips forward, in attempt to steal the spotlight of the historical UFC 259 card.
