The number 3rd ranked UFC Welterweight fighter, Leon Edwards is eyeing to seal his spot as the title contender with his win against ‘The Stockton Slugger’ Nate Diaz at UFC 263.

Edwards hasn’t lost since his loss against Kamaru Usman, still, the UFC president Dana White made it clear that it is going to be Colby Covington who is getting the title shot, before the winner of this Welterweight fight.

In his latest interview with ESPN, Edwards shows his displeasure for Colby Covington getting the title shot before him. Leon Edwards says, “I don’t know how Dana is justifying giving Colby the title shot,”

“He went out there, it was an injury against Tyron Woodley, he sat out for over a year and demanded that he wants a title shot after just getting knocked out for the title like one fight ago.” {H/T MMA Mania}

“I just don’t understand how they’re even considering that when I’ve been here for years, grinding my way back up from my last defeat.”

‘Rocky’ is coming into this fight with eight straight wins and one no contest in his last fight. All these win over the years helped him climb at number 3 in the rankings.

Leon Edwards wants to put the final nail in the coffin at UFC 263 with a win against Diaz and wait for the title fight afterward. He added, “I went on an eight fight win streak, soon to be nine, so after I go out there and defeat Nate next weekend, I’ll be waiting for my title shot,” {H/T MMA Mania}

“If that’s the game plan – to wait it out, sit out and don’t fight, then I’ll be doing the same. I will go out there and I’ll handle my business this weekend, and I’ll wait for my shot. That’ll make it nine in a row. That’s the third most in the division’s history. There’s Usman, GSP and me for the most wins, so I’ll go out there and prove my case.”
