UFC 318 is scheduled for this Saturday at the Smoothie King Center, located in the state of Louisiana. In the exciting main event, experienced UFC veterans Max Holloway and Dustin Poirier will clash for the symbolic BMF title. Additionally, a lightweight matchup between veteran Michael Johnson and rising star Daniel Zellhuber has captured the attention of fight fans.

Recently, the UFC organized a pre-fight press conference where all main card fighters answered several intriguing questions from reporters. During the presser, certain fighters engaged in heated exchanges, attempting to mentally unsettle their respective opponents before battle. Notably, the fiery verbal clash between Zellhuber and Johnson quickly became the highlight moment.

Zellhuber is relatively new in the UFC, having only five professional fights inside the Octagon. In his most recent bout, Zellhuber unfortunately suffered a tough defeat against fellow rising star Esteban Ribovics at the memorable UFC Noche event. Eager to regain winning momentum, he attempted to trash talk Johnson, but was instantly and firmly shut down by the veteran.

I don’t even understand what you are saying. Like, repeat yourself. I think you are trying to talk yourself into a fight. You’re probably a fan of mine… that’s your obsession with me. I think it’s a little gay, but it’s okay.

Michael Johnson is a seasoned UFC veteran, having fought for over a decade against some of the sport’s biggest legendary names. He famously knocked out main event star Dustin Poirier in stunning fashion, delivering one of UFC’s most memorable knockouts. With years of octagon battles, Johnson has grown immune to trash-talking, mastering composure regardless of the opponent’s attempts at intimidation.

Johnson has experienced an inconsistent career in the UFC, spending fifteen long years without ever competing for a championship title. Despite this inconsistency, his recent victories clearly reflect strong resilience, proving he remains a dangerous fighter against younger UFC opponents. Heading into this upcoming fight, Johnson is considered a major underdog and now holds another great chance to shock everyone.

UFC 318 main event results might shake the lightweight division

Max Holloway has expressed a strong desire to challenge Ilia Topuria for the lightweight title and avenge his earlier disappointing loss. However, top-ranked fighters like Paddy Pimblett, Arman Tsarukyan, and Justin Gaethje are currently in the competitive title contention line before Holloway.

Currently, the ‘Blessed’ is ranked #5 in the division and will need a few more wins against top fighters before getting the shot. Despite these talented contenders ahead, Holloway believes his experience and a win at UFC 318 can make him a worthy challenger. In a recent interview with MMA Fighting, the veteran talked about the importance of having viral knockouts to get ahead in the line.

We’re in a sport where I say we have moments. People forget we’re in the entertainment business. That’s just what it is. That’s what fighting is. We’re entertainment, and whoever sells those seats, that’s what the UFC is going to do. We have the president talking about how Arman is taking the right step to getting a title shot again, which is insane, and with Justin Gaethje saying about a title shot, I mean my last ‘55 fight, I did what I did [to him]. At the end of the day, it’s entertainment. You can’t be mad. You can’t be mad at anything.

Holloway enters UFC 318 as the underdog, having already lost his previous two intense fights against Dustin Poirier. Fighting in Louisiana, Holloway faces additional pressure from the supportive hometown crowd passionately cheering for their favorite local fighter, Poirier. Despite these daunting challenges, the Hawaiian star believes in his skills, promising to overcome adversity and secure a long-awaited victory.
