The UFC 261 co-main event hosted a title bout between Zhang Weili and Rose Namajunas for the women’s strawweight title. The fight ended in an amazing way after Rose Namajunas caught Zhang with a high kick that landed clean to the face followed by a punches while the Chinese was down at the floor. The referee called for stoppage and Rose Namajunas was crowned the world strawweight champion.
The fight went down at VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena, Jacksonville, Florida. It was no surprise that the knockout of Zhang by Rose Namajunas shocked the MMA world. The high kick knockout caught the attention of many UFC stars as they took out their excitement and praise on Twitter.
UFC stars react to Rose Namajunas on Twitter
The former heavyweight champion who is also considered one of the greatest of all time, Stipe Miocic went on Twitter to praise the fellow American, Rose Namajunas. “Thug Rose,” he wrote on Twitter.
The ‘Black beast’ Derrick Lewis seems to be very interested in the fight. Judging by his Twitter reaction, he too like many Americans was rooting for the underdog in the fight. He wrote, “USA in this hoe,” on twitter.
The biggest praise of all for Namajunas must be coming from the GOAT of women’s UFC and also the greatest MMA fighter ever, Amanda Nunes. The two-division champion went out on Twitter to praise Rose saying, “Thug Rose” applauding her for the knockout.
Along with these stars, Megan Anderson, Joanna Jędrzejczyk and Pearl Gonzalez praised Rose for her achievement on Twitter too.
UFC welterweight contender Belal Muhammad and featherweight Calvin Kattar had no words but were in awe of the USA fighter.
