Anderson Silva is set to return to the boxing ring. The UFC legend will be taking on another UFC great Tito Ortiz in a boxing match. The date for the event is said to be the 11th of September, with the fight set for 8 rounds in 10-ounce gloves. It will be held in the undercard of Triller Fight Club’s Oscar de la Hoya vs Vitor Belfort.

The news was first reported by Guilherme Cruz of MMA Fighting, who had learned from multiple sources, after the same was reported to his colleague Damon Martin as well. Several media outlets confirmed the same, a while later.

Tito Ortiz will be making his pro-boxing debut against Anderson Silva!

Cruz’s Tweet read, “BREAKING: A boxing match between former UFC champions Anderson Silva and Tito Ortiz is targeted for Triller event on Sept. 11, multiple sources told myself and @DamonMartin. Story coming to @MMAFighting.”

Anderson Silva is coming off a win over Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. on the 19th of June. Silva won the fight via. split decision, marking a successful comeback to the sport after a long gap of 16 years. His boxing record currently stands at 2 wins and 1 loss. It is worth noting that Silva made his boxing debut, way back in 1998.

Tito Ortiz, on the other hand, has never boxed professionally before. This fight will mark his boxing debut. He is recently coming off a setback in life, after resigning as the Mayor of Huntington Beach. His last fight in MMA was in 2019 against Alberto del Rio on the 7th of December. Ortiz won the fight via. submission in Round 1.
