Aspen Ladd vs Macy Chiasson at UFC Vegas 38 is off after Ladd failed to make weight. The fight was set to take place in the main card of the event headlined by a light-heavyweight fight between Thiago Santos and Johnny Walker. After more than 10 minutes near the weighing station, Ladd failed to make weight despite the use of a ‘towel weigh-in’.

The women’s bantamweight was more than 6 pounds the limit when she initially stepped onto the scales. On shedding her clothes, after the necessary towels were brought in, she weighed in at 137 pounds, still very much above the required fight. Besides this, Aspen Ladd looked totally dehydrated – she could barely even lift her hands while weighing-in.

“A move to be 145 has to be considered” – Ariel Helwani on Aspen Ladd weigh in

Famed MMA journalist Ariel Helwani gave his view on Ladd’s weigh-in. He pointed out that Ladd looked like a “corpse” before going on to state that it would be dangerous to let someone in that shape take part in the fight. However, the fight was eventually cancelled.

Helwani wrote, “That may be true, and I hope it’s not the case, but she looked like a corpse up there. Just can’t be healthy to let someone in that shape compete in a fight less than 36 hours later.

This is not the first time Ladd has had trouble with weighing in. She struggled to make weight for her fight against Germaine de Randamie in 2019. However, a while later she made the cut, but was brutally handed a TKO defeat just 16 seconds into the fight.

It is also worth noting that, it has been almost 2 years since Ladd fought last. What are your thoughts on this?
