The former lightweight champion, Conor McGregor was quick to react to Charles Oliveira becoming the new UFC lightweight champion at UFC 262. ‘Do Bronx’ beat Michael Chandler in a second-round TKO.
Former featherweight and lightweight champion Conor McGregor went on Twitter to congratulate the Brazilian for his commendable performance. Charles Oliveira has been in the game for over a decade and this is his first title fight at UFC 262. The Brazilian sure did took that to his full advantage. The lightweight division now has a new champion after many years as Khabib Nurmagomedov retired from the UFC.
Conor McGregor took to Twitter to congratulate Charles Oliveira for his title. ‘The Notorious One’ took a light jab in the tweet counting the time to the next UFC lightweight champion. “Congrats to Oliveira on becoming the 11th UFC lightweight champion. Wonder who Twelve is…,” Conor McGregor wrote. By ‘Twelve’ Conor implies it will be him next for the title and also the company he owns, “Proper Twelve”.
Will Charles Oliveira face the winner of Conor McGregor vs Dustin Poirier?
Conor McGregor is set to face Dustin Poirier at UFC 264 for his trilogy fight. The series is leveled at 1-1 with each fighter winning a fight to their name. The lightweight division has a lot of options in its book for a title contender in the next matchup. Michael Chandler who just lost is yet to fight the rest of the guys in UFC.
Meanwhile, Dustin Poirier was the actual contender to that lightweight title but ‘The Diamond’ preferred to go for the money fight against Conor in the trilogy. When reporters asked bossman Dana White if the winner of the fight will take on Charles Oliveira the President of UFC didn’t seem to have an answer. Interesting times ahead for the division.
Who do you think is in line for that title shot?
