The New Zealand’s darling fighter crossed paths with expert match organizer Sean Shelby where he asked the UFC manager to set up a match with the American, Brian Ortega.

In a talk show, The Maclife‘s ‘Pub Talk’, Dan Hooker said in a candid chat that he had a desire to fight Ortega when he returns to the featherweight division. He said, “After Kai’s win [at UFC 269] I bumped into Sean Shelby on the way out. And that’s the first time I’ve heard from him… since the featherweight [test weight cut]. He’s obviously seen it… I asked for Korean Zombie, but he’s injured. I asked about Ortega. He goes, ‘Oh, I’ll have a look. I’ll send you a list.’ I was amped up.”

He and the host were both drinking beers and chilling out. On the show, he said, “I would take on Brian Ortega for a Modelo. The fight doesn’t get better than that. It Thai, knockout, Kai, knockout, both bonuses. I would love to take on him.”

Dan Hooker is looking to get entry in the top tier with the fight with Brian Ortega

Dan Hooker and Brian Ortega
Dan Hooker vs Brian Ortega could be in the making and could take place soon! Fingers crossed! Will The Hangman get the better of T-City?

Dan Hooker, famously known as “The Hangman”, debuted in the UFC in the year 2014 at the UFC night 43, where he took on Ian Entwistle and won via TKO in the first round.

As the years progressed, he took on multiple high-profile fighters. He won some, lost some, but he never went down without testing the opponent’s limits. Be it against Islam Makhachev, Micheal Chandler, or Dustin Poirier, he lost but earned the Fight of the Night awards. It would be interesting to see if Shelby can get the matchup of Dan Hooker with Brian Ortega and it would be much more interesting to watch ‘The Hangman’ get the victory.
