The UFC president Dana White is always known for giving a chance to young emerging talents for many years through his exclusive program Dana White Contender Series. In DWCS, the promotion scouts talented mixed martial artists from over the globe and give them a chance to earn a potential UFC contract.
It has been questioned many times why the other MMA promotion doesn’t do the same thing. Because there are still many other talented MMA fighters in different parts of the world who didn’t get the opportunity to show their talent on such big stages.
During the recent press conference after Dana White Contender Series 44, one of the reporters asked Dana White why the other MMA promotion doesn’t do the same thing. Replying to which White says,
“What you’re saying is absolutely correct, but when you watch these shows, these other shows don’t do what we do, they’re not looking for young upcoming talent. They’re looking for the guys we actually release.”
“In order to me There style of matchmaking makes no sense to me but what you’re saying is absolutely correct but nobody else can figure that out and thank god F**k em.”
Dana White believes Fight Island will be hosting many UFC events in the near future
UFC is going back to Fight Island with its upcoming Pay-Per-View, UFC 267. This event is headlined by UFC Light Heavyweight champion, Jan Blachowicz defending his title against Glover Teixeira. Now US government has recently sent out a memo to all the fighters that they and their cornering team have to be fully vaccinated to gain entry to the country.
White already gives his take on fighters of UFC that he won’t be forcing them to vaccinate and taking toll of these things Fight Island will be once again coming to rescue. In the same interview, he added, “I’ve been telling you guys through this whole thing, you’re like, ‘Hey, what about this, what about that?’ I said I have no idea how all this nuttiness is going to play out, but here we go. I don’t know.”
“I think ‘Fight Island’ is going to be hopping again. Yeah, we’re looking to do more events (there). I’m going to Abu Dhabi next Wednesday, so I have a lot of meetings out there. I’ve been dying to walk you guys through what’s been going on in Abu Dhabi anyways, so this trip I’ll get everything done, buttoned up, and finished.” {h/t MMA Junkie}
