The former UFC interim lightweight champion, Dustin Poirier lost his second shot at the UFC title at the main event of UFC 269. Poirier lost to Charles Oliveira by a third-round submission and now he intends to never fight at the Lightweight division again.

Soon after his loss, Dustin Poirier received a call out from one of the biggest names on the UFC roster, Nate Diaz. ‘The Stockton Slugger’ asked Poirier to face him in January and even ‘The Diamond’ showed interest in this fight.

The duo was booked to face each other back at UFC 230, they even did a face-off and press conference for this pay per view but this fight never got materialized. Nate Diaz didn’t get on the same page with UFC for this fight and Dustin Poirier opted to fix a long-time injury.

Poirier even agreed to face Diaz in January, but this fight got derailed when he turned his attention once again towards Conor McGregor. Although, the UFC president Dana White is still positive about seeing this fight in near future.

Talking about the same in the UFC Vegas 45 post-fight press conference, Dana White says, “If that’s a fight that they want and the fans want to see, we’ll do it,”

Nate Diaz wants to fight in January and start 2022 with a bang

‘The Stockton Slugger’ Nate Diaz is searching for a name for the last fight on his UFC contract. Although, all the stars are aligning for the trilogy fight between him and Conor  McGregor, but ‘The Notorious’ is still recovering from his injury and he isn’t fit to compete.

Diaz already claimed that he is going to fight McGregor again once he gets back healed completely and wins two or three fights. Amidst all this, he still wants to fight on the January UFC fight card and with one of his recent tweets, he says,

“I’m not fighting Conor until his leg grows back and he beats some people so we know he can even fight still till then Can I get on January card UFC Thanks.”
