UFC Fight Island 8: Viviane Araujo defeated Roxanne Modafferi via unanimous decision

Viviane Araujo (12-3) and Roxanne Modafferi (29-22) competed in the women’s flyweight division at UFC Fight Island 8, and Viviane Araujo defeated Roxanne Modafferi via unanimous decision.

Round 1- Araujo opens up with some clean striking, Roxane clearly looks uncomfortable on the feet with her, Araujo lands a clean uppercut and a right hook knocks Roxanne off her balance. Roxanne tries to take Araujo down but she reversed it tries for a choke but couldn’t complete it. 10-9 for Araujo in our opinion.

Round 2– Araujo is landing clean jabs all throughout the round, Roxanne tries to take her down twice but gets denied each time. Araujo pops some more clean shots and ducks a hook from Roxanne and secures a takedown of her own. 10-9 in favor of Araujo.

Viviane Araujo dominated Roxanne Modafferi in a three-round contest

Round 3– Araujo lands some pretty good shots at the beginning of the round, Roxanne tried to take her down got very close but couldn’t get it. Roxanne lands a clean combination but it seems to have no effect on Araujo. With less than a minute remaining in the round Araujo took her down and finished on top. In our opinion 10-9 again in favor of Araujo.

Result -Viviane Araujo defeated Roxanne Modafferi via unanimous decision (30-27).
