UFC: Fight Island welcomes a limited number of spectators

Abu Dhabi culture and tourist association promisies to welcome "limited number of fans" for upcoming UFC event

UFC fans

Fans are what makes any sport great and UFC fans are especially more enthusiastic than anyone. With the Covid-19 and lockdown in various parts of the world in play, UFC president Dana White secured a private island in Abu Dhabi to host UFC live events.

But the fans were not allowed to attend the event due to restrictions and precautionary measures, but fans are once again welcomed to attend the event on a limited basis. The Abu Dhabi Department of Culture and Tourism via their Twitter handle announced that they would welcome a “limited number of spectators” in their new Etihad Arena.

They are claiming the area to be a “safe zone” and according to them, this has made it possible for them to allow the entry of fans in a limited number. The first is on 16 Jan, 2021 which will headline Max “The Blessed” Holloway vs. Calvin Kattar.

Can we expect fans to return in full attendance soon?

UFC fans in attendance

Fight Island is set to feature three events this time. The first event as mentioned will headline Holloway vs. Kattar, the second event would feature the welterweight contest between Michael Chiesa vs. Neil Magny and lastly, it would feature the return of the biggest UFC star and the most anticipated rematch between Conor McGregor vs. Dustin Poirier with debut of Michael Chandler vs. Dan Hooker as co-main event.

Now there is no telling when other cities would allow fans to attend the events in full attendance but with vaccine distribution in the process, we can hope that everything would be better soon and UFC would return to its full glory.
