The clip went viral and Ngannou’s former coach Fernand Lopez described the whole incident in his recent interview, talking to Ariel Helwani from The MMA Hour, he revealed that he already anticipated that this was about to happen, and his student Ciryl Gane asked him if he should say Hi to his former partner or not.

Lopez told him that Ngannou won’t say hi or hello to either of us, so it’s your call, and Gane didn’t believe him, he said, “I said I’m pretty sure he’s not going to say hello to you or to me. So, I brought my eyes this way, and I saw Francis coming. I was laughing at Ciryl, because Ciryl is so naive — he was like, ‘Oh, why doesn’t he say hello? I was laughing at him, because it’s so hilarious, he’s like a kid. I was like ‘What do you think? You’re fighting the guy? You think he’s going to kiss you?’”

“If you have a film director, you cannot do better than that,” Fernand Lopez believes the moment between Francis Ngannou and Ciryl Gane was picture perfect

Lopez said Ngannou did the right thing by not stopping by and greeting them, this would’ve made him a hypocrite, “So him not saying hello to Nassourdine, that’s the point that frustrated Ciryl,” Lopez said. “But I knew already, and that would have been stupid for me, and to be honest, that’s fair, because we, across the media, have been saying things; I’ve been saying things about him, and he’s been saying things on me. So to be honest with you, if we don’t want to be hypocrites, he should not stop by me, and I should not stop by him.”
