Looks like former UFC women’s bantamweight champion, Holly Holm might make a comeback to the featherweight division.
The promotion is in the works for a featherweight matchup between Holly Holm and Norma Dumont. The former bantamweight division will return to the octagon after a whole year to fight in the featherweight division. The UFC is in the works for this fight. According to MMA Fighting, the promotion will schedule this fight on October 16th.
Holm has not fought in the octagon since October 2020. Her last bout was against UFC bantamweight fighter, Irene Aldana at UFC on ESPN: Holm vs. Aldana. The former champion won via decision. She is currently riding on a two-fight winning streak with also a win against Raquel Pennington. It is interesting that the fighter has decided to go back to the featherweight given the good run she has had in the bantamweight division.
Can Norma Dumont get the better of Holly Holm?
The last time Holm fought in the featherweight division was against top-ranked fighter Megan Anderson. Holly emerged as the winner via decision at UFC 225. Prior to her fight with Anderson, she dropped down to a weight class the first time against Cris Cyborg in the year 2017 in the main event of UFC 219. “Hottie” could not get the better of Cyborg as she lost via decision.
Her potential opponent in 2021, Norma Dumont has a record of 6-1-0 in her MMA career and is coming off an amazing two-fight winning streak. Her last two wins have come against Felicia Spencer and Ashlee Evans-Smith. Both the wins have been decision wins. Like Holm, Durmont has also switched between weight classes and knows what it feels like. After her loss against Megan Anderson via TKO, she fought at bantamweight in the next fight.
